On Friday, I posted a photograph of my son, the tank commander, and his fellow reservists who fought the Hamas terrorists in Gaza for over four months following the massacre and outrages of October 7th. This post generated a surge of new followers, the vast majority of whom expressed admiration for my son and his comrades in arms. Sadly, there were a few who sent death threats and messages filled with vitriol, violence and venom. I blocked many of these, most of whom appear to have been bots and trolls. But there were some genuine hate postings. One in particular was from a female truck driver in Alaska who is a virulent anti-Semite. She hates all Jews everywhere and blames us for all the ills of the world throughout out all time. We know these Jew-haters and have been contending with them for over 3,000 years. You can read about them in the Bible and throughout human history since Biblical times. We are not fazed by such ignorant bigots. We have overcome them in the past and will continue to do so. Meanwhile, I salute my son and the thousands of other men and women of his generation who left their families, studies and businesses to defend their nation, their People and, indeed, as Douglas Murray says, all of Western civilization in the campaign to rid the Middle East and the world of Islamist hate and terror. One final observation, my late father, father-in-law, and uncle, like hundreds of thousands of Americans joined the US armed forces during World War II to rid the world of Nazism and fascism. In the process many innocent civilians lost their lives in the war for freedom and liberty. Those men and women were called the "Greatest Generation" because of the sacrifice they made for all mankind. In Israel today we look at these intrepid young men and women like my son in the same way. They are the Jewish People's Greatest Generation. They are risking and sacrificing their lives and livelihoods for the greater good in the fight against pure evil. God bless them. As it is written in the Book of Deuteronomy: "O nations, acclaim His People, for He will avenge the blood of his servants, wreak vengeance on his foes, and purify his People's land." Deut. 32:43.
