Pre-Infection COVID-19 Vaccination and Long-Term Cardiovascular Outcomes in Adults Without Preexisting Cardiovascular Disease: A Retrospective Cohort Study 🚨Pre-COVID vax cut heart attacks/strokes/death risk by ~80% in first year (and still helped at 3 years) in adults with zero prior heart disease! 😉THE EARLY VACCINATED WERE CLEARLY THE SMARTEST! ➡️This international retrospective cohort study (Health Science Reports, used the TriNetX US network to examine adults (≥18) with COVID-19 (March 2020–December 2023) and no preexisting cardiovascular disease (CVD), ➡️Vaccinated individuals (≥1 dose before infection) were 1:1 propensity-score matched to unvaccinated ones on ~90 covariates (demographics, comorbidities, meds, labs), ➡️Matched cohorts: ~55,752 each for 1-year and ~55,622 each for 3-year analyses. ➡️Study findings: - Primary composite (acute MI, cerebral infarction, or all-cause mortality): RR 0.21 (95% CI 0.17–0.27) at 1 year, RR 0.48 (0.43–0.55) at 3 years, - Strong 1-year reductions: cerebrovascular disease (RR 0.35), circulatory system diseases (RR 0.52), all-cause mortality (RR 0.20), hospitalizations/ER visits (RR 0.61), ischemic heart disease, hemodynamic instability, stroke/embolism, heart failure exacerbation, and new atrial fibrillation, - Protection attenuated but persisted at 3 years for cerebrovascular disease (RR 0.71), circulatory diseases (RR 0.82), mortality (RR 0.44), and several others (ischemic heart disease became non-significant). ➡️Pre-infection vaccination was linked to substantially lower long-term CV events, death, and healthcare use in people without prior CVD. ➡️The study focuses exclusively on the first COVID-19 diagnosis (index date) and pre-infection vaccination status. Reinfections, breakthrough infections after vaccination, or multiple infections are not analysed or mentioned ‼️So, getting vaccinated before COVID infection appears to slash the risk of major heart attacks, strokes, circulatory disease, and death for years afterward, even in previously heart-healthy adults, by as much as 80% in the first year, with a further clear protection lasting at least three years! ‼️Following this large study, be it retrospective or not a RCT : - People who chose early vaccination (or accepted it when offered) ended up with better measured cardiovascular and survival outcomes after infection. - Public-health campaigns that promoted pre-infection vaccination align with these results on this particular endpoint. #AvoidSars2 #AvoidReinfections https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/hsr2.73014
