Recovery trajectories and predictors of symptom resolution in post-COVID-19 condition: a population-based cohort study (UMCG Groningen, Netherlands) 😡They are at it again…… “Most individuals with PCC recover, but older adults and those with multiple symptoms are at higher risk of prolonged illness, underscoring the need for ongoing support.” ⭐Caution: - These data do not prove universal or benign recovery. They describe trajectories under specific, restrictive measurement choices (return of a limited set of symptoms to each person’s pre-infection baseline in a heavily biased milder cohort). - Limited capture of PEM/functional impact/fluctuations. - Their own stricter sensitivity analysis already shows substantially lower “recovery” rates. ⭐Their conclusion therefore overstates what the methods can support. Treat it as an intentionally optimistic framing of a milder spectrum, not the general prognosis for people with multi-symptom or disabling PCC. ⭐Also note that this study is NO outliner! The senior author Judith G.M. Rosmalen (professor of psychosomatics, Department of Psychiatry, UMCG) and the same group’s earlier Lifelines papers have consistently used tightly controlled/biased definitions that produce lower prevalence and higher recovery-to-baseline estimates than many other, more thorough clinic-based or patient-reported data studies.
