Case Report: Post-mortem analysis of long-term inflammation after mild COVID-19 🚨Mild COVID, Dead of other causes 250+ days later, No documented longC0VID, Virus protein still sitting in lung and heart macrophages, Inflammation still running, Recovery on paper ≠ recovery in tissues! ➡️Very interesting Singapore case report of four young-to-middle-aged men (27–51), recovered from mild COVID-19, then died of unrelated causes more than 250 days later. Tissues were collected in early 2021, before widespread vaccination or repeated infections, so this is a rare, relatively unconfounded snapshot. ➡️Findings: - SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid (NP) antigen was still present in lung and heart, including inside macrophages in some cases (NP+ CD68+/CD169+/CD206+ cells), - Detection was not uniform across all cases/organs, but it was real and absent from COVID-negative controls, - Lung and heart showed a coordinated, self-sustaining inflammatory program: monocyte/neutrophil enrichment, upregulated CD163, S100A8/9, TIMP1, HIF1A and related genes, plus NFκB–TNFα, IL-6–JAK–STAT3, IFN-γ, complement, ROS and hypoxia pathways, - Brain looked different: less immune infiltration, KRAS-pathway enrichment, vascular/endothelial signals, and downregulated neuroprotective/structural genes, pointing to barrier and neuroimmune disruption rather than classic local inflammation. ➡️None of the four had documented PACS/LongC0VID symptoms. Antigen and tissue-level immune change were therefore found in people who, on available records, had “recovered.”😧 ‼️So, again, mild COVID is not always a closed chapter. Viral antigen and organ-specific smouldering inflammation can persist for 8+ months in people without a LongC0VID diagnosis. ➡️“Recovered” on a test or symptom checklist does not equal clean tissues. That by itself widens the problem: the denominator is not only people who meet LongC0VID criteria. It may include a larger still silent pool of “recovered” individuals carrying residual antigen and organ-specific immune changes…….waiting to emerge or/and the next infection??? #AvoidSars2 #AvoidReinfections
