Peter, in all honesty, do you really believe that the mainstream of pro-Palestinian activism in the West doesn’t support hurting Israelis, doesn’t believe that killing civilians is a reasonable price to pay to achieve their goals? This is a genuine question, because I really don’t understand. The activists I’ve seen, both online and in person, openly defend and support Hamas and Hezbollah and even, when I ask them, Iran’s plans for the region. Looking for a real answer. Because from where I stand, this insistence that liberation requires Israel’s destruction seems fundamental to their vision, even as it ensures the continued failure of the utterly valid and rightful part of the Palestinians’ demands from us.
