You can’t want to end Gaza’s suffering while also helping to leave Hamas in power in Gaza. Why? Because Hamas’s one and only strategy is to maximize that suffering. You can’t want to rebuild in Gaza and also want Hamas to remain in power in Gaza. Why? Because nobody can rebuild Gaza under Hamas. So it’s nice that you “will not be silent” about Gaza’s suffering - you shouldn’t, obviously, that’s not some huge moral commitment on your part. But if you don’t have a plan for Hamas’s removal, your de facto (if unintentional) rescue of Hamas will only guarantee more and longer suffering. Please don’t do that traditional American thing where you think the most important thing about a foreign conflict is how you Americans express your moral emotions about it. Let the college kids do that. You need an actual strategy. https://bird.makeup/@msnbc/1816609325231538682
