I'm reading the article about @bariweiss and I can already tell you it was written by someone with a childlike immature understanding of the world. There is zero contradiction between doing things for passion/fulfillment, and concern for finance, and even, god-forbid, wanting and enjoying financial success. In fact, there can be no success without keeping an eye on the books. Rent and employees must get paid at charities as much as investment banks. She "insists..." A slimy sentence of skepticism. As if in 2024 starting independent media companies is some sort of no-brainer vehicle to riches rather than money-pit we know it normally is. The callow worldview of this article goes well beyond Bari. It shows how a generation of elites truly have no idea of what motivates innovative people. As if the super computers they carry in their pockets, or the medicines they take, or the GPS satellites, the electric cars, the friggin NY Times, or even the lightbulb(!)... as if all these contributions to the world are simply examples of greed. I could go on and on. FYI, I know Bari a bit. We've had conversations and I WISH sometimes she'd talk about business, but she doesn't. It's all enthusiasm for the next story and the next creative and impactful delivery vehicle for ideas. She won't shaddup about it, lol.
