Lebanon must choose between a good future and a Hezbollah future. We’ll do our part, for our own interests, to weaken Hezbollah as much as possible. But we will soon leave. It’s ultimately only ever going to be up to Lebanon.

Gulf Countries Council (GCC) to convene next month. On top of its agenda will be funding #Lebanon's reconstruction, post-war with #Israel, estimated at $15 billion. #Kuwait said will be happy to, BUT... The "but" is incumbent on the Lebanese rebooting their political system, including completing reforms. Reading between the lines, wealthy Arab Gulf governments will only fund Lebanon's reconstruction if the Lebanese government becomes sovereign and disbands the #Hezbollah militia. I assume the same condition applies to disbanding Hamas in Gaza and reforming the Palestinian Authority, conditions for the Gulf to fund Gaza's reconstruction. This thinking is now becoming the standard position of the Gulf (Qatar and Oman think otherwise but will not openly dissent). https://www.alraimedia.com/article/1707132
