If Palestine’s supporters weren’t so astonishingly stupid, they would see that by far the worst thing that Israel could possibly do to Gaza at this point is leave Hamas in charge there. The destruction of Hamas is a reasonable strategic response to October 7, even if Hamas sets a very high cost for it. But allowing Hamas to stay alive, playing by their rules, dragging this all out - that’s just cruelty. I honestly cannot imagine how anyone could possibly wish that for Gaza. I support this deal, assuming what we’ve read about its stipulations is correct. Our people are more important to me than Gaza’s liberation. But I am actually sorry that this deal will let Hamas live and tyrannize and destroy a little longer.

Hamas militias, through a Telegram channel they used to publish videos of shooting Gazans in the legs, threatened that once the ceasefire took effect, anyone who had written against them on social media should be ready for punishment. Hamas claimed to have a list of their names and addresses—which means the day after will be bloody for the people of Gaza.
