This is very good news. I hope it holds up under continued scrutiny. The Gaza war was and may continue to be a hard and painful and horrific mess. I’m sure there were mistakes and I’m sure there were crimes. There are too many people involved for there not to have been. The question is degree. All wars include crimes. But some far more than others. I would like to come out of this terrible time, once the dust has settled and the data becomes reliable again, and learn that the Israeli war effort was, at its core, decent. That is what I suspect and believe, but the data will tell us the truth. Hamas seems to have accidentally told us that that is exactly what happened: Seven times more fathers were killed than mothers. That is, among fighting-age adults (adults with children), the dead are overwhelmingly men.
