I like India. Always have. And I have a great deal of respect for Hinduism, which is less a religion in the Western sense and more a shared vocabulary, a shared system of meaning for a vast array of religious outlooks, including some surprisingly monotheistic ones. A whole diverse humanity onto itself. And like Judaism, Hinduism has relatively few hard dogmas and isn't a missionary religion. But you know what? I'd be Team India without all that. Heck, I'd be Team India even if the top imams of Pakistan *hadn't* issued a fatwa calling for holy war against me. You see, I once backpacked from Delhi up to Himachal Pradesh and back down to Agra with a sweet, smart girl who agreed to marry me a few short weeks later. So yeah, no geopolitical wisdom from me today. Team India all the way.
