Haven’t had time to comment on the conspiracy theory that Sharaa was groomed and rehabilitated by the U.S./CIA. The true story is that when Sharaa was ruling four million Syrians in Idlib, the West feared an attack by ISIS would send most of these Syrians fleeing on boats to the West. Reasoning was thus to talk to Sharaa and help him stand his ground, repulse ISIS and improve his government to keep millions of Syrian refugees in Idlib. The PR company that was in charge of rehabilitating Sharaa was led by Jonathan Powell, now British NSA. Ford was hired for his expertise on Syria. The idea was to help Sharaa stand his ground and govern, not conquer or expand. But when Israel crushed Hezbollah, Sharaa saw a chance to conquer Assad. America feared that ISIS might exploit the opportunity and expand west to take Idlib while Sharaa’s forces headed south to Damascus. On one day, U.S. airforce struck 75 ISIS targets, which protected Sharaa’s flank. All of this didn’t mean that America was grooming Sharaa, only controlling ISIS. The rest is history.
