In October, one of Hamas’s leaders explicitly stated that Hamas, the governing body in Gaza, is not responsible for civilians: “We built the tunnels because we have no other way of protecting ourselves... 75% percent of the population of Gaza are refugees, and it is the UN’s responsibility to protect them,” — Moussa Abu Marzouk. That's why it’s important for Hamas to keep Palestinian refugee status, but they shouldn't be refugees, nor should they be reliant on an aid organization for their basic needs. Palestinians deserve leaders whose priority is providing for their own people, not terrorizing another.
