Israel’s second entry into the Eurovision competition, which is open to several non-European countries such as Turkey and Morocco, titled “Dancing Forever” has been rejected, with their first song, "October Rain" having been disqualified after being deemed “too political.” Ukraine's 2022 entry song, "Stefania," which won in the music contest is understood by Ukrainians as an homage to the plight of the country under Russia’s invasion. Music should be a connecting and healing force. Especially after the attacks of October 7th, Israel should be welcomed onto the world stage to express our grief and pain through music so that we too can heal. Why is it that Jewish and Israeli trauma is always “too political” to be valid? Why can't our humanity be ever acknowledged? I think we know the answer.
