Moshe Ben Porat, 58, was on his way to the synagogue for his grandson's Brit Mila when Hamas murdered him. Despite dying on October 7th, he was not buried until October 16th due to the sheer volume of bodies. Moshe was a cook at an assisted living facility. He loved cooking and specialized in Persian dishes. His synagogue's kiddush spread always had enough for everyone because Moshe made sure of it. Many friends of Moshe expressed how dearly they loved him and missed him. The one that hits me the hardest is from Moshe's friend Haim Vaknin, who said, "“His joy set him apart. Even though I knew that he had experienced many not easy things in life, he was always smiling and laughing. We all learned from him what it was to be happy.” Deeply religious and kind, Moshe's absence has left a huge hole in the hearts of many. May his memory be a blessing.
