Nasreen Yousef, a Druze mother of 4, saved countless lives on October 7th with her ingenuity and bravery. Eyad Yousef, Nasreen's husband, joined the community's security team and soon caught a terrorist despite his leg being in a cast. Nasreen, who had been hiding in the safe room with her children, went outside and spoke to the terrorist. She convinced the terrorist that she was on his side and tricked him into revealing where the terrorists were coming in through the fence. Nasreen's husband used this information to capture more terrorists while she helped tie them up. Eventually, one of the terrorists' phones rang and Nasreen answered, tricking the man on the other side of the phone. He told her where more terrorists would be coming, thinking that she would assist them. He ended the call saying "Inshallah, tonight we’ll conquer Israel.” Nasreen recalled feeling sick after the phone call and told an IDF soldier "Even in my worst dream, I never thought I’d have a conversation with a Hamas member." Eyad and his squad guarded the Hamas terrorists until the army arrived. Nasreen would go on to tell reporters that she had no idea how she didn't panic, adding “As my husband got dressed that morning, he said it would be an honor to die in uniform, not in a protected room. I knew that if they came, they’d kill us. I had to protect my home.” Without Nasreen, her husband, and thousands of Druze in the IDF, many more innocents would have died that day. Nasreen Yousef, you are a hero and deserve to be recognized as such.
