In a statement to a French news agency, senior Hamas member Bassem Naim stated that "These successive recognitions are the direct result of this brave resistance and the legendary steadfastness of the Palestinian people. We believe this will be a turning point in the international position on the Palestinian issue," in response to several European nations calling for the recognition of a Palestinian state. Notably, those European nations made no mention of the hostages. So, to get this straight, Hamas commits the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, breaks multiple international laws concerning human rights and war crimes, and now they get to make a fluffy statement about the resilience of Palestinians? Also, don't think I didn't notice the conflating of every Palestinian citizen with Hamas. Of course Palestinians deserve autonomy but maybe in that statement you could add a caveat that the murderous terrorist organization shouldn't be in charge of said state?
