As negotiations for a hostage deal resume with Hamas, the Israeli medical system is preparing for the possibility of pregnancies resulting from the rape of hostage women.  12 women remain in Hamas captivity. We don’t know anything about their condition, and what condition they will be returned to us in. Several medical studies examining the psychological consequences of women who experienced rape in war conditions revealed that they suffer from a range of mental illnesses, including anxiety, depression, dissociative disorders, sexual dysfunction, alcohol and drug abuse, and suicide attempts. I sincerely hope our young women will be returned to their families as soon as possible, so they can begin healing. We are all waiting for you.
