Thousands of Israelis took the streets in a “day of disruption” today to demand new elections as the country marked 9 months since the brutal Oct. 7 Hamas onslaught. These protests, which are in addition to the weekly Saturday night ones, are a great example of how to protest the Israeli government without being antisemitic. Notice how no one was wearing Hamas headbands, no one is screaming antisemitic tropes, and there were no Hezbollah flags in sight. You don't have to support terrorist organizations to criticize Netanyahu’s government. Thousands of citizens gathered to demand a deal and a change of government because they can. Israel is a democratic country, where we have the freedom to criticize our leaders and hold them accountable for their failures.
