Why did "UN experts" declare famine in Gaza, when, by the UN's own definition, famine is a "technical term" with specific parameters? According the the UN, famine is defined by 20% of the population facing extreme levels of hunger, 30% of children being too thin for their height, and a death rate surpassing two deaths per 10,000 daily for adults and four deaths per 10,000 daily for children. The statement released earlier today by a UN panel of "experts" says nothing of these metrics, citing only 34 malnutrition-related deaths and declaring that "when the first child dies from malnutrition and dehydration, it becomes irrefutable that famine has taken hold." That doesn't mean a single starvation is acceptable. This nightmare has to end. But throwing definitions out the window to throw the book at Israel brings us no closer to peace, only to a world ruled by lies and misinformation. https://t.co/O2mLV9o8bp
