“I don’t feel safe anymore walking around with my Jewish, religious objects in DC.” A Iranian-American Orthodox Jewish man wearing a kipah was attacked in Washington, DC by a man who screamed about the war in Gaza and antisemitic slurs. The attacker was arrested after punching the victim several times, cracking his jaw and inflicting cuts and swelling on his face. He shouted: “You are not the real Jewish and you guys are murderer, you guys kill people in Gaza and in America.” There have been nine anti-Jewish and three anti-Israeli hate crimes in DC this year. We are in a fight for our right to be Jewish in public, from Paris to New York to Washington, DC.
