For the first time, experts from the Schneider Children’s Medical Center in Israel have documented the clinical characteristics of 26 children and women released from Hamas captivity. As suspected, the report reveals severe physical and psychological trauma among the hostages, highlighting the horrific conditions they endured. Here are the major symptoms experienced by the hostages, as listed in the report: 1. Psychological trauma All hostages experienced severe psychological effects, including anxiety disorders, nightmares, and submissive behavior, especially among younger children. This also involved psychological terrorism such as isolation, intimidation, and extreme food and water restrictions. 2. Injuries 14 hostages sustained serious injuries during the attack and kidnapping, including shrapnel wounds, fractured ribs, lung injuries, and gunshot wounds. 3. Starvation and malnutrition Hostages suffered significant weight loss due to a severely limited diet and lack of essential nutrients. 4. Infections Blood tests revealed tick-borne fever, Q fever, and murine fever, which can lead to severe health complications. 5. Intestinal diseases Unhygienic living conditions led to bacterial infections, compounded by hunger and thirst. 6. Muscle damage Elevated levels of CPK enzyme indicated muscle damage from prolonged immobility. 7. Poor hygiene and sanitation Hostages endured unsanitary conditions leading to head lice, insect bites, and skin diseases. These symptoms were observed in the hostages who were held for less than 2 months in Gaza. There are still 115 hostages held in Gaza for over 10 months. We must bring them home now!
