Biden’s midnight speech was painful to watch. The President who reminded the world that you don't need to be Jewish to be a Zionist, the man who flew into Israel days after October 7th to show his unwavering support, couldn't say where the hostages are from: Israel. Of course we need a ceasefire, of course we need aid for Gazans. But erasing the plight of Israel and Israelis from the conversation only dehumanizes one side of the conflict, pushing peace further away. And no, the protesters cheering on terror and calling Jews colonizers in our homeland do not “have a point.” Palestinians deserve our empathy, but terror must be condemned. There are no “good people on both sides” of the protests. One side is calling for peace and release of the hostages and another is calling for hate and violence. I would rather remember his presidency by his actions than by last night’s speech.
