"As far as I am concerned, he is alive." Idan Shtivi was declared dead a year after October 7th. His brother Omri, however, is still holding hope. Earlier today, Hamas announced that they will announce which hostages are alive and who are dead later this week. So families like the Shtivi family will remain in limbo, with no idea if Idan is alive or not. All they can do is wait in terror for Hamas's announcement, which is exactly why Hamas announced the announcement rather than just giving Israel the names of the deceased.
