I've been struggling with what to write about the UN report about Israel's "sexual violence" in Gaza, because it describes a lot of real suffering. Women giving birth in difficult conditions. Civilians killed as Israel targets Hamas militants. A lack of hospitals to care for people. The problem is, rather than actually provide analysis on the source of these problems, the UN report points a finger at Israel for what are the consequences of Hamas's disastrous war. Failing to mention the hostages, while blaming Israel for "gender violence" for searching men for weapons—an entirely necessary measure in wartime—takes away from what could have been an important testament to all that Gazans have weathered during this horrific war. Shame on the UN, for constantly whitewashing Hamas's crimes. This obviously hurts Israelis, but if they think they are helping Palestinians, they are also sorely mistaken.
