“I’m a f*cking widow at 29!" Michal fell in love with murdered hostage Alex Lobanov, 33, when he was a chef at a restaurant and she was a waitress. He was her first boyfriend. They dated for 11 blissful years, got married, and had their first son — but Alex was kidnapped from the Nova Festival, while working as a bartender, on October 7th and everything changed. After 10 months in captivity, Alex was executed at point-blank range by Hamas. Michal says she still finds herself talking about him in the present tense, and that “widow” feels like too big a word. Alex had the kindest eyes and the biggest smile. He loved life, bartending, nature, and his family. Michal also gave birth to their second son while he was still held in captivity. Hamas stole everything from him. And from Michal. We must never forget Alex, his family, or the five hostages Alex was executed with.
