In the latest propaganda video — which I will not share without the family’s consent — Hamas shows Elkana Bohbot lying on the floor, hooked up to an IV. Yosef Haim Ohana is then forced to say that Elkana has tried to harm himself, that he no longer eats or drinks. He adds that he won’t eat either, until Elkana does. How cruel can it get? We know from countless testimonies that Hamas does not care about the hostages’ lives. They murdered the Bibas boys with their bare hands. They tortured Guy Gilboa Dalal, Evyatar David, and Tal Shoham for fun — lighting paper on fire to drain the oxygen from the tunnel and make them choke. They poured chlorine on Maya Regev’s bullet wound. They beat Alon Ohel so badly he may lose his eyesight. They shot Hersh Goldberg-Polin to death. So no, we’re not naïve enough to believe that IV is anything but a prop for the camera.
