Trump in Saudi Arabia today: “It’s been an amazing thing, the Abraham Accords, and it’s my fervent hope, wish, and even my dream that Saudi Arabia will soon be joining the Abraham Accords.” I appreciate this statement and agree that Saudi Arabia joining the Abraham accords would be wonderful news for Israel and the whole Middle East. But Trump signaled last week that he plans to make a deal with Saudi Arabia to give them civilian nuclear capabilities WITHOUT normalizing with Israel. I’m no expert, but wouldn’t it be better dealmaking to use leverage to get what you want, rather than give it up? 🤔
