Hamas survivor Romi Gonen on Instagram ❤️🩹 “27.5.25 – Three months after the first surgery. We’re heading into surgery number two. Three months of intense rehabilitation behind us. We meet soldiers and civilians wounded in body and soul. Everyone is there for one another—lifting, encouraging, and most importantly, supporting each other. The road ahead is still long, and sometimes the strength just runs out. There’s a lot of frustration, emotional struggles, and heartbreak. I feel disappointed that I haven’t progressed more. That I’m still in the hospital. And most of all—that 58 hostages are still in Gaza. How can I begin to heal when I’m here and they’re still there? I’m receiving care while others are begging just for a single pill of paracetamol. I can choose what I want to eat, while they’re fighting over one pita a day. The guilt and anxiety never leave me. They must return — for themselves, for their families, and for all of us. This recovery is slow, painful, and mostly filled with sadness. It’s easy to look at us from the outside and say we seem okay. But no one really knows what’s going on inside. We are not okay!! And it will take time. But with God’s help, we’ll get through it—because we are strong. So strong. All I ask is this: please, don’t assume, don’t judge. Just love us unconditionally. Accept us. Support us. I believe that a year from now, I’ll post and write that, finally — Thank God — the hostages and the soldiers are home, my hand is working again, and this physical nightmare is behind me. Wish me luck. 💗”
