Here’s what Jews around the world faced just this week: - Rabbi Elie Lemmel was insulted and punched in the stomach by three men in Deauville, France. - The Holocaust memorial, two synagogues, and a kosher restaurant were vandalized in Paris with green paint, the color associated with Hamas. - A man wielding a makeshift flamethrower shouted “Free Palestine” and threw an incendiary device into a peaceful march for the hostages in Boulder, Colorado. 15 people were injured, 3 severely, nearly burned alive. A 88-years-old Holocaust survivor was among the wounded. - A public primary school in Lyon, France, was set on fire. Several classrooms were defaced with antisemitic slurs, swastikas, Stars of David, and pro-Palestinian messages. - Rabbi Elie Lemmel was assaulted again, this time in Paris. While sitting at a café terrace, a man violently struck him in the head with a chair. - A Boulder city council member refused to condemn the firebombing because the statement didn’t include the term “anti-Zionism.” You don’t punch people in the streets or set them on fire to criticize a foreign government. You do it because you want to kill Jews. If the world stays silent in the face of this wave of antisemitism, I fear what horrors it will take before people finally speak out.
