You did nothing to help Hersh or the others. You didn’t visit a single hostage in Gaza. The least you can do now is condemn Hamas for murdering civilians. Each murder is a war crime under the Geneva Conventions. So was their captivity and torture for more than 300 days. Say so.

Today, six families across Israel and the world received devastating news. Our hearts are with them. All those held hostage must be released immediately.

Today, families in Israel and across the world woke to the heartbreaking news that six more hostages were killed while in captivity in Gaza.

The families of these hostages – and all hostages – have lived through a nightmare for more than ten months.

Children, spouses, siblings, and parents have all waited anxiously, every day, for news of their loved one.

For this to be the outcome is devastating.
More death and suffering must be prevented.

Under international humanitarian law, those held hostage must be released immediately and unconditionally.

Until that happens, they must be treated humanely and with dignity, and the International Committee of the Red Cross must be granted access to visit them, to check on their welfare, provide medical treatment, and re-establish contact with their desperate families.
