Dear followers and citizens of X: Please consider making a donation to a very worthy cause, one in which 100% of the funds will go directly to those in need. I have been struggling to get Australian refugee visas for my former cellmate Maryam Alishahi and her family for more than 3 years now, knocking on all doors and pulling on all strings in a system which is profoundly stacked against any offshore humanitarian visa applicant, no matter how worthy. Finally, with the assistance of some wonderful MPs and Iranian community members, we have pulled off the impossible and obtained refugee visas for this family. This is just in the nick of time, as they have received deportation orders in Turkey, which wants to send them back into the arms of the IRGC which has already sentenced them to prison and has opened another court case in absentia. The Mansouri family are environmental and animal rights activists and political dissidents. They have already done time, lost their assets and livelihoods, and paid an enormous personal price for their opposition to Iran's depraved and barbaric regime.
