Interesting remarks by @Eyalo365, expert on Hamas economy, with regard to my post below, and the widespread phenomenon of payment via banking app in Gaza (which has nearly completely ceased since the border crossings closed on 2 March): "This small incident is of no importance in Israeli eyes. At the same time, there is literally endless chatter in Israel about "Hamas rules because it distributes food." But the truth is that the real way Hamas currently earns tens of millions of shekels a month and manages to launder (through financial transfers to accounts in the West Bank) 100-200 million shekels a month is completely related to this phenomenon, which I am aware of, and have been following for several weeks. But it seems that no one in the government is willing to understand how Hamas continues to profit, because they want to open food distribution camps. So we must continue with the lie that "Hamas rules because it distributes food." He further explains that Hamas controls cash liquidity in Gaza, and supplies cash to the money changers, who demand commissions of around 22% for Gazans wishing to purchase cash.
