8 Gazan children accompanied by their families were transported from #Egypt to #Ireland for medical care. As an #EU member state, Ireland responded to the @WHO request to assist in addressing health needs in #Gaza. #MedicalEvacuations #Children

The transportation of #Gaza patients from #Egypt to #Ireland would not have been possible without the collaboration of the Egyptian Ministry of Health, the Health Service Executive in Ireland, the Italian Hospital Umberto Primo in #Cairo, EU Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid, the World Health Organization, and the plane that was kindly provided by the Slovakian Government for this medical evacuation. Eight children from #Gaza travelled to #Dublin from #Cairo, accompanied by eight caregivers and eleven siblings. They were also supported by three medical doctors from the Health Service Executive and a translator. It is estimated that #Ireland will receive up to 30 paediatric patients from Gaza. Since November 1, 2023, Egyptian hospitals have accommodated nearly 6,000 severely injured and chronically ill Palestinian citizens evacuated from Gaza, along with almost 10,000 companions.
