This is obtuse and not what Clinton said at all. Clinton is saying “ffs, this would have been resolved 25 years ago if not for him walking away, and these kids don’t get how stupid Palestinian leadership has been.” Arafat didn’t have to accept camp David, but he didn’t have to walk away and kick off the second intifada either. Clinton and his partners negotiated the Israelis down a lot, and the Israelis showed up at Taba 6 months later with terms even more favorable to the Palestinians, whereas Arafat showed up at Taba rejecting everything at Camp David. This doesn’t make things happening now “okay” but students are stupid to not account for how Palestinian leadership being idiotic has brought ruin upon the Palestinians.

Arafat said no to a bad deal, so everything that is happening now is ok? What about every time Israel said no? What about the time Biden arrived in Israel to the announcement of new settlements? To blame decades of faulty U.S. policy on well-meaning students is pathetic.
