It's kind of insane that upwards of 250,000 Jews got killed murdered in a three-year period (1918 to 1920) and we don't really talk about it. The 1985 Whitaker Report of the United Nations put the range between 100,000 and 250,000 and lists it as a genocide. Part of it's why it's overlooked is because the Holocaust was so overwhelmingly bad that the earlier genocide was just sort of forgotten about. Part of it's that the Russian Civil War was insanely violent and saw 7 to 12 million people die. But in the 30s when you had people worrying about fears of mass antisemitic violence, the scale of how bad pogroms had gotten was what came to mind.
