I think people really don't get how into the Druze Jewish Israelis are. In the (Jewish) Israeli psyche, Israel is de facto a Druze-and-Jewish State. Israel had a Druze President briefly. The extremist Smotrich is building a DRUZE settlement in the WB/JS. There's substantial *domestic* pressure in Israel to act for the benefit of the Syrian Druze. It's a very unique dynamic that shouldn't be discounted even if you think Israeli actions in Syria are also driven by cynical strategic concerns.
