Honestly, I tend to agree with Trevor here. I don't think we need to continue escalating until at least January.

The U.S. move here was pretty modest. Canada’s best response before may have been no retaliation, though most govts disagreed. Perhaps this time we avoid further tit-for-tat, since the emotion need to retaliate again might be limited. Can instead focus on domestic policy.
