Sigh, we're still doing this? That 1954 house was 1,000 square ft and had no AC. The car was a gas guzzler. One black & white TV. You went out to eat once a month. Your kids owned 8 total outfits. Vacations were a local beach. Forget technology, flights, long-distance calls, etc.

“Americans used to live a lot better with a lot less than they do now. In 1954, with a yearly salary of $3500 (equivalent of about $40,000 today), a man could have a 3-bedroom house, a couple of kids, a wife who didn’t work, a car, and a tv. You try getting anywhere near having all that on just $40,000 a year today, and it won’t happen anywhere in the United States…We have lost the value that used to make the American dream real for American families. And Donald Trump wants to get it back, and he sees trade as away of doing that.”
