If there is one thing that Hamas members worry about, it is targeted assassinations. I'm not talking about foot soldiers or field commanders. I'm talking about men such as Hamdan, al-Hayya, al-Zahar, and Jabarin. Those so-called political officials who now lead Hamas. But an action like this carries consequences. Like the terrorist organization that it is, Hamas has threatened to execute hostages before, and there is strong evidence they have. They can resort to carrying out such an action in response to targeted killings. Thus, my answer is to beware of actions like this. It's not a cure all, and Israel understands this well.
