I think Israel has been interested in normalization for some time. However, there is an elephant in the room named Hezbollah. Despite the heavy blows it faced during the war, I don't currently see any force in Lebanon capable of challenging Hezbollah's opposition to such a deal.

Israel wants normalization with Lebanon. That’s what an Israeli source told me. The source added that the discussions with Lebanon are part of a broad and comprehensive plan. The Prime Minister’s policy, they said, has already changed the Middle East, and Israel wants to continue the momentum and reach normalization with Lebanon. Just as Lebanon has claims regarding borders, so does Israel.
