No evidence? A couple things. First, of course there was evidence. “We finally beat Medicare” is not a thing people say in a presidential debate when they’re sharp as a tack. But other people can argue that. I find the denial too lame to engage with. The second point is a general gripe about usage that many people are guilty of. People say “there is no evidence” for this or that when they mean “this wasn’t conclusively proven.” Lots of people get acquitted in trials despite there being ample evidence they might be guilty. There just wasn’t *enough* evidence or dispositive evidence. Indeed, often people get acquitted because they are innocent, but there can still be evidence of guilt in a legal sense. There just isn’t *proof* of guilt. You were at the bank when it was robbed. You ran from the bank after the robbery. That’s evidence, regardless of whether you robbed the bank or not.
