Yes! I moved to LA fifteen years ago to be a television writer, creating a show that shot on the Fox lot. And then I started a business with two friends that employs about a HUNDRED people in Hollywood. If you view this as a mistake, I'm sad to hear that from Karen Bass's team. We can see LA as you do - a static and shrinking place, where everyone competes with each other for limited housing, setting "newcomers" against latino communities, or homeowners against renters, etc. etc. Or we can see LA as a vibrant welcoming place, affordable for families that have been here for generations and for young people who want to take a chance on their dreams here. That is possible, but we have to build and grow! And we can't accept so much inaction and failure and mismanagement, and excuses that try to guilt people for demanding better from the government!

It’s true Jon Lovett is new to Los Angeles moving here in 2011, for those keeping score Nithya moved to LA in 2013, nothing wrong with that, however, they moved here during one of the largest Latino displacement in LA history at the time. But Mike, the LA city govt should have just made it easier for more housing to be built. Well in 2008 we had this mortgage crisis, where large banks couldnt fail and NO one was able to get financing or credit to build anything. So hip cool kids displaced Latino families, the largest impact being in councilman Eric Garcetti’s district. As a city commissioner I said all these things during our public meetings. But yeah “if only LA was able to build more Mike wouldn’t be complaining.” Nahh the world froze during our almost depression where several trillions dollars disappeared from the market overnight. You recall all of this happening in LA right Coconut Tree?
