At this week’s cabinet meeting, @elonmusk correctly stated, “We simply cannot sustain as a country $2 trillion deficits.” Yet the recently passed budget, which President Trump hailed as a “win,” projects the following deficits: 2025: $2.2T 2026: $2.0T 2027: $1.9T 2028: $2.0T 2029: $1.9T 2030: $2.0T 2031: $2.0T 2032: $2.0T 2033: $2.2T 2034: $2.0T It’s $2 trillion deficits as far as the eye can see—and these are the wishful-thinking numbers. As @RepThomasMassie noted, a congressional budget employs the rosiest assumptions. Actual results will be even worse—likely much worse. If we’re going to turn things around, we need to stop lying to ourselves about the situation. Talk is cheap. All that counts is what’s actually happening. An incredible opportunity is being squandered.
