Last month, my mother received a phone call from a physician stating that her long time doctor of more than 30 years had died. This new physician introduced himself and told her that he was taking over all of his patients and someone would be calling her to update her appointments going forward. She has been heartbroken and researching obituaries online for weeks. Today, the long time physician’s assistant called to schedule an appointment for my Mom at his new location. My Mom found out that he sold his office and opened up a new location closer to home; and had sent out mailers and robocalls notifying his patients of the move, (which my mother stated she never received). My mother, who has challenges with being DIRECT, never informed the assistant that this new physician is telling patients that her doctor is dead….but I will. ….and BTW, he is the only one that proactively wears an N95 and discusses the effects of Covid.
