This is all Israel wanted, but no one ever actually enforced 1701. UNIFIL troops were there, but they were braiding each other’s hair or something because they sure as hell weren’t keeping Hezbollah away from the border. The question remains: How will you enforce UNSCR 1701?

The situation in Lebanon is extremely serious. The solution is clear: France is calling for an immediate ceasefire. The parties must seize it. The method is simple: full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701. All parties must ensure the security of UNIFIL.
