Everyone who wants to understand what’s wrong at @Columbia should memorize two words: shared governance. Policy-making, disciplinary hearings, appeals, punishments, and now public safety on campus have all been democratized. This is what “faculty have too much power” means.

Columbia just revived their Inclusive Public Safety Advisory Committee. The committee comprised of students, faculty, and staff will meet regularly to “make recommendations that support inclusion and belonging” to Columbia’s Public Safety team. Despite claiming to care about Jewish students’ safety, Columbia couldn’t be bothered to include a single Jewish student on the committee. This is what we mean when we say @Columbia doesn’t care about it’s Jewish students.
