🇮🇷🇮🇱🇱🇧 Why Israel's strike on Beirut matters to Iran Dahiyeh is the southern suburbs of Beirut, home to hundreds of thousands of people. It's also Hezbollah's main stronghold in the Lebanese capital, which is why Israel keeps targeting it. While Israel's been able to strike southern Lebanon with relative impunity, any attack on Beirut is a red flag to Iran. The last time it was hit, Tehran declared it an unacceptable ceasefire violation and launched a retaliatory attack on Israel. Netanyahu knew full well the same is likely to happen again, which raises the question of why he launched the strike on the verge of the U.S signing a peace deal with Iran. The only logical answer is that he doesn't want the deal signed; he wants the wars to continue. That's a huge problem for Trump. Source: Al Jazeera / Writers: Daniyal, Ian
