In 1832 a French chemist boiled down a lump of meat to see what was inside it, and found a white crystal nobody had a name for. He called it creatine, after the Greek word for flesh, and then more or less shrugged. Nearly two centuries later we know what he was holding. It fuels muscle, yes, which is why it lives in every gym bag on earth. But it also turns up inside the brain, topping up the energy your neurons burn through faster than almost any tissue you own. And the research into what that means, for tired minds, for ageing ones, and for the food already on your plate, is stranger and more hopeful than the supplement aisle ever told you. The full story, from a pot of Victorian meat broth to what it may be doing behind your eyes right now, is up on Gandalv today. https://open.substack.com/pub/gandalv/p/creatine-isnt-just-a-muscle-supplement?r=3v7cjb&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true
