In addition, Omar is mentioned as a heroic martyr joining his martyred mujahid brothers. There is also a very interesting and pretty rare mourning phrase (Omar's): “martyred on the path of Dhat Al-Shawkah” (the thorn way). Tariq Dhat Al-Shawkah, the path of thorns, is rarely used but sometimes appears in mourning posts for mujahids. It is actually a Quranic term, originally referring to the Battle of Badr. It probably came to symbolize the path of armed struggle and sacrifice: to fall with honor, advancing in resistance against overwhelming forces. Bilal's wife and daughter were killed also in this strike.
